Rare Space by Rare Dementia Support (RDS) brings together and celebrates the creative and cultural life of RDS members, both in person and online. It is a service for RDS members and is very much created in partnership with them.
Many experiences are hard to capture in words, and the creative activities – by which we mean not only fine arts and crafts but also everyday practical creativity like cooking together, engaging in sports or spending time in nature – offer many people a way to express themselves or connect with others. Rare Space combines individual stories, group projects, creative research and activity suggestions, hoping to inspire creativity and reflection within the RDS community and beyond.
Most of our Rare Space activities now take place at The Hilary and Galen Weston Rare Dementia Support Centre, where we have an art studio, specially designed and adapted garden space, and areas for exercise and group activities. We would advise taking a look at the latest activity programme for the Centre and contacting us if you would like to sign up.
